Description

As an exclusive collaboration between the contemporary artist Ron English and the Limoges-based company, K.olin Tribu comes to this limited edition of 50 MC Supersized Platinum Porcelain Sculpture. This elegant and playful 8.6" tall porcelain sculpture features the iconic MC Supersized character designed by Ron English, inspired in the playful yet critical artistic style of the Pop Art Movement. ‘MC Supersize’ serves as Ron English's commentary on American consumerist culture, fattening up its children on fatty fast food and sugary drinks. In English’s twisted reality, Ronald McDonald has gobbled up his own food resulting in MC Supersize, a grinning overweight parody of the multinational fast-food chain McDonald's' mascot. The discovery of Kaolin during the 18th century in the French region near the city of Limoges, southwest of Paris rapidly made the city known for its unique porcelain production. The distinctiveness of Limoges porcelain products is also attributed to the unique mixture of minerals in addition to Kaolin found in this particular region, as well as the attention detail and high-quality standards demanded by expert craftsmen. Since 2009 K.Olin Tribu partners with recognized illustrators, graphic designers, artists, and graffiti artists to produce unique porcelain collection pieces in the city of Limoges where it is located, marking all of its products Porcelaine de Limoges, France; attesting to their quality and uniqueness.
