Protect your favorite books, store your jewels, small objects, letters or keys, these Vermeer book boxes uses are endless. The book box remains closed thanks to a magnetic clip, and the inside is luxuriously padding with soft velvet. A great replica of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring stands on the surface of this high-end and elegant book box. It depicts a Dutch girl wearing an exotic dress, an oriental turban, and a large pearl earring. The original work is oil on canvas and is 17.5 in high and 15 in wide. It is signed IVMeer"" but not dated. It is estimated to be painted around 1665.
Combine the book boxes with the ceramic vase Girl with Pearl Earring and recreate a Vermeer atmosphere at home!
The dreamy girl with the pearl earring became an icon of Western painting during the 20th century. The small painting has an amazing composition, Vermeer's famous light and unparalleled brushwork, and above all, an unusual, very appealing portrait of a sweet, ordinary, working class girl. The painting was purchased by the art collector des Tombes in 1883 for a mere 30 cents at an auction and was left to The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague in 1902.
