As part of Musart's original collection, we are excited to present a limited edition of 100 Brandalised Skateboard Triptychs inspired by the enigmatic street artist Banksy and his renowned work, Grey Ghost.
In 2008, following the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans, Banksy visited the city to leave his unique brand of social and political commentary on the hurricane and its profound effects on the local culture. However, he encountered a formidable adversary known as the Grey Ghost. Fred Radtke, also known as the Grey Ghost, was an anti-graffiti artist who had made it his mission to erase every trace of graffiti in the city long before Banksy's arrival. Armed with his grey paint roller, he would swiftly cover any unauthorized artwork he encountered. Two years later, only one Banksy piece managed to escape the grey paint roller, and that was because it was protected behind plexiglass. Interestingly, the Grey Ghost himself became the subject of some of Banksy's New Orleans works, depicted as a stooped figure erasing color from the city's walls.
This captivating story serves as the inspiration for our limited edition Brandalised Skateboard Triptychs, paying homage to Banksy's artistry and his encounter with the Grey Ghost. These triptychs capture the essence of Banksy's thought-provoking work and the resilience of artistic expression in the face of adversity.
Musart is delighted to bring this unique collection to art enthusiasts and skateboarders, allowing them to connect with Banksy's powerful message and the spirit of New Orleans. With Musart on Decks, we celebrate the fusion of art and skateboarding culture, offering a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a piece of contemporary art history.
