Biography

After obtaining his MFA at the University of Texas, the prolific contemporary American pop artist Ron English moved to New York City during the 1980s. During his time in New York City, Ron English began to work as an apprentice for several artists. There he slowly began to sell some of his own works. Ron English’s iconic artistic style is influenced by pop art and popular culture where his characters are depicted through his notorious use of photo-realism and vibrant color schemes. Aside from appropriating iconic figures of popular culture, Ron English also makes use of iconic works in the history of art such as Da Vinci’s Last Supper, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, or Picasso’s Guernica, among others.
