About The Kiss by Rodin (1889)

The Kiss by Rodin is a high-end reproduction made with cast and off-white resin of the original marble sculpture. The sculpture is known as one of the most popular sculptures representing carnal love in the History of Art. Like The Thinker, The Kiss by Rodin is also taken from Dantes "Divine Comedy" and based on the figures of Paolo and Francesca from Dante "inferno. Francesca and Paolo realized their love for one another as they sat reading tales of love but Francesca had previously married Paolo "brother. Rodin decided to sculpt the adulterous lovers when they first kissed.

The statuette official reproduction comes protected in a safe packaging with Rodin's biography.

Rodin's sculpting techniques

Rodin's method used to make large sculptures was counting on assistant sculptors to replicate a smaller model he produced from a clay which was easier to work with than marble. Once his assistance had carved, the artist would put the finishing touches on the larger version. The gigantic marble statue of The Kiss by Rodin is one of three full-scale statues made in Rodin "lifetime.

Rodin

Auguste Rodin was a French sculptor who exhibited a unique talent to capture the extreme depths of human emotion. Although he didn't study at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he found inspiration in sculptural traditions. A majority of his criticism was due to his departure from highly decorative and thematic traditions. He preferred forms that were true to nature and took Michelangelo and Da Vinci as prime influences. Despite the controversy that surrounded his art, he refused to change his style, sticking to his vision until the end of his days. His most famous piece of Art, The Thinker, was originally part of a larger vision. Along with The Kiss and Gates of Hell, Rodin tried to encapsulate Dante’s Inferno in bronze. Eventually, the sculptor earned fame thanks to his unexpected realism and use of unconventional materials. Throughout his later life, he remains one of the greatest artists of his era.
