Seletti Toiletpaper X-Large Mirror - Gold Frame - Tongue
Description
Pulled from the pages of Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari "provocative image-only magazine Toilet Paper, this mirror with an image of five disembodied male hands holding red lipsticks serves as a helpful reminder to not leave the house before touching up your make-up and is just as charmingly absurd as the rest of the artist "oeuvre.
The genesis of the Seletti Wears Toiletpaper suite came from Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari's "provocative image-only magazine Toilet Paper", the glossy publication founded in 2010 by Cattelan in collaboration with photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari. Toiletpaper contains no text but combines slick photography with twisted narrative tableaux to create an explosively original journal that perfectly encapsulates Cattelan "aberrant oeuvre.
Hailed simultaneously as a provocateur, prankster, and tragic poet of our times, the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, who famously retired at the age of 51 in 2011, has created some of the most unforgettable images in recent contemporary art. His works frequently satirize popular culture, authority figures, and the art world itself. Cattelan has seen his works exhibited at the Venice Biennale and the Whitney Biennial as well as at numerous institutions, including Centre Georges Pompidou, the Tate Gallery, and the Museum of Modern Art.
