About The Skateroom x Andy Warhol – Campbell’s Soup Skateboard - Purple

Among the most iconic works in modern art, Warhol’s 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans paintings took various forms, including a 1965 series comprised of 19 different colored cans. For these works, Warhol not only used ink colors that departed from real colors, but also spray painted the backgrounds and the lower (white) portion of the label in different colors. The result was a collection that was both unexpected and familiar. These groundbreaking works are the inspiration for this series of skate decks, where each color has been produced in a limited edition of 5,000.

This exclusive skate deck made in collaboration between The Skateroom and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts mix the energies of underground culture and legendary artists. The Skateroom is a platform for promoting, selling and producing art on skateboards that supports youth-empowering organizations. Warhol

Pop Culture artwork by Andy Warhol Andy Warhol is without a doubt the first name to come to mind when thinking about the Pop Art culture. His iconic work focused mainly on celebrity culture, artistic expression, and advertisement, which were all prominent in the 1960s. He utilized a variety of media including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. Warhol also lived openly as a homosexual man before the gay liberation movement began. He had His Factory, where intellectuals, drag queens, playwrights, Bohemian street people, Hollywood celebrities, and wealthy patrons would collaborate. The Pop Artist produced extraordinarily valuable pieces, including some of the most expensive paintings ever to be sold. While never traditionally thought of as a popular consumer product before, Warhol’s work opened up the ideas of mass-production and mass-appeal into the art world.
