Salvador Dali Triptych Skateboards - Musart on Decks - Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee (1944)
Description
Introducing an exclusive limited edition of 100 Salvador Dali Skateboard Triptychs, a part of Musart's original collection, Musart on Decks. This collection showcases the iconic work of the Spanish Surrealist artist, featuring his masterpiece titled "Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second before Wakening Up," created in 1944. This renowned artwork can be found at the National Museum of Thyssen-Bornemisza.
The title of this painting, though explicit and lengthy, perfectly describes the original piece, which is an oil and collage on canvas. The composition depicts the sleeping figure of Gala, Dali's wife and muse, floating above a rock in a serene marine landscape. Alongside her naked body, two drops of water, a pomegranate, and a bee are also suspended in the air. Gala's dream, triggered by the buzzing of the bee, unfolds in the upper part of the canvas. From an exploding pomegranate, a fish emerges, followed by two fierce tigers and a bayonet. In just one second, Gala will be awakened from her peaceful slumber by the bayonet.
Although Dali had already moved to America and dedicated less time to painting by 1944, this particular canvas signifies a return to his "paranoiac-critical method." Based on Freudian theories, Dali believed that images could be interpreted in multiple ways, establishing him as one of the prominent figures within the Surrealist movement.
